- Acts on behalf of graduate student members of the Medieval Academy of America within the organization and the broader academic community. Committed to fostering international and interdisciplinary exchange and providing guidance to graduate students. Responsible for managing and growing the GSC’s social media presence and organizing panels at the major annual medieval conferences.
Work and Research Experience
- 2020 Remote Learning Assistant, Department of History and Classical Studies, McGill University
- Provided support to McGill faculty in the Department of History and Classical Studies in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic to pivot their courses to an online platform with an aim of enhancing the student experience. Fielded technical questions about e-learning platforms, like Zoom and MyCourses, as well as questions about pedagogies of online teaching.
- 2017-20 The Bartholomaeus Project, Research Assistant to Dr. Faith Wallis, Department of History and Classical Studies, McGill University
- Worked under Dr. Faith Wallis on her SHRC-funded project to transcribe and edit the medical writings of Bartholomaeus of Salerno. Responsibilities included transcription and translation of Latin medieval medical texts, website development and maintenance, comparing the works of Bartholomaeus with other 12th century medical commentaries, and other assorted duties related to the project.
- 2017/19 The Center for Talented Youth of Johns Hopkins University, Academic Dean’s Assistant
- Worked with the Academic Dean on day-to-day administration of on-site academic programming. Focused on ensuring that a diverse group of educators were able to meet the goals of their classrooms. Responsible for organizing a large portion of staff orientation and provided ongoing training and support for teaching assistants.
- 2016-19 Translating the Divide, Research Assistant to Dr. Travis Bruce, Department of History and Classical Studies, McGill University
- Worked under Dr. Travis Bruce on his SSHRC-funded project exploring the role of translators in the medieval Mediterranean as a medium of intercultural relations. Duties included identifying, scanning, and data-mining primary sources, creating a searchable database of key terms, and any other assorted duties related to the project.
- 2014-16 The Center for Talented Youth of Johns Hopkins University, Teaching Assistant for “History of the Middle Ages” and “History of the Renaissance”
- Assisted in the intellectual development of talented and multi-national students by providing first-class academic instruction and engagement. Responsibilities included tutoring students while also learning and meeting their individual needs, teaching lectures and lessons, ensuring the class ran smoothly, and other assorted duties related to teaching and classroom management.
- 2012-19 The Veterans Camps at Kieve-Wavus Education, Inc., Staff Assistant
- Provided a safe place for veterans of the United States Armed Forces – both retired and active duty – and their families to rest and reconnect with each other and society, while also providing them with the space and resources to cope with the stress of deployment during past and current conflicts.
